About This Short
It’s called The Stitch. This has been in the works for almost 10 years, and now it’s officially moving forward. City Council just gave the green light, and Phase 1 is coming soon.
Here’s what’s planned:
4-acre park
Playgrounds
Public art
Native gardens
Broad tree canopy
8 miles of street upgrades through downtown ATL
The goal is to reconnect the two sides of downtown that were split by the Connector decades ago. Completion is expected by 2030, and the total project cost could hit $800 million.
I love that Atlanta keeps adding more green space and community-centered projects like this. Would you spend time at a park built over the highway?
